MoStugov (www.mdn.org/mostugov.org) is a completely free news service designed to teach high school students how to be a statehouse reporter. Each week a story will be posted on an issue currently being discussed by the General Assembly that directly impacts teenagers. The stories are written in a way that they can be pulled off the site and run in your student newspaper. We also provide ways to make each story more local and pertinent to your student body along with graphic ideas.

The site can also be used as a teaching tool with tips on how to cover the statehouse and the legislative process, and a break down of who's who in the capitol. More teaching tools will be added throughout the semester so be sure the check back often! This project is still in its pilot stage so we ask that you provide us with as much feedback as possible. If your newspaper staff decides to run one of the stories please just let us know by sending us an email. Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated, and we are dedicated to making adjustments and additions to the site based on your requests.

MoStugov is a produced by Missouri Digital News of the Missouri School of Journalism with assistance and support from the Missouri Newspaper Association and the Missouri Broadcasters Association. We are also willing to send reporters to your school and have them talk to your journalism students about what it is like to be a statehouse reporter. Many of our reporters are young, so it will be easy for students to identify with them. We are also willing to give your students a tour of the capitol building and and insider's look on how reporters cover statehouse news.

If you have any questions or suggestions on other tools and story ideas please don't hesitate to email us back at this address or mostugov@mdn.org or call 573-751-2888 and ask to speak to Kathryn.
